Launched on 21 July 2019, M³+@ Woodlands aims to engage the Malay Muslim (MM) Community in Sembawang GRC and Sembawang West SMC through its five sub-committees - Community Wellbeing, Heath Preparedness, Youth, Employment & Upskilling, Financial Literacy.
Over the past year, M³+@Woodlands has introduced various signature initiative series.
Health-Related Programmes
Kelab Kesihatan Woodlands, another signature initiative of M³+@Woodlands, seeks to involve the MM community in Sembawang GRC and Sembawang West SMC in various physical activities, such as Jalan Kakis, Zumba A-Go-Go, Cycling, Piloxing and Trekking, that are co-organised by the Mosques, MAECs and M³+@ Woodlands.
Community Partnerships
M³+@Woodlands have continually explored collaboration with a network of partners, professionals, and volunteers to support the MM community in Sembawang GRC and Sembawang West SMC.
For example, yearly programmes during Ramadan such as the Spirit of Sembawang donation drive (benefiting families such as, Darul Ihsan Orphanage, Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation and Pertapis Children’s Welfare Home) and Bazar Raya Utara (BRU) have meaningfully engaged the MM community at large.
Collaborations with partners such as AMP for a Micro Business programme, where low-income residents learn essential skills to help with their home-based businesses.
Santai Bersama KakakMJ
Santai Bersama KakakMJ is an initiative where Adviser Mariam Jaafar, together with volunteers from M³+@Woodlands interact with residents at the various coffeeshops around Sembawang GRC and Sembawang West SMC. The goal is to engage with MM residents in a casual. atmosphere and hear their thoughts on Government policies as well as suggestions on how to improve them.
We have also introduced a Homework Assistance initiative called Woodlands Homework Café, where Homework Buddies volunteer to help students out with their homework or school subjects.
Jom, Youth! series
M³+@Woodlands works closely with Mendaki Club in running PEER Community Programme, a youth mentoring programme targeted at MM secondary school-aged youths. PEER stands for “Positive Experiences, Engaging Relationships”. This mentorship programme has made a positive impact on our young residents by imparting valuable life skills and connecting them to the wider ecosystem of community volunteering.
Recently, M³+@Woodlands’s youth volunteers started the Jom Youth! series, which ai to create diverse, youth-centric programmes for youths within Sembawang GRC and Sembawang West SMC and empower them to take active ownership in shaping meaningful community initiatives.
These programmes include sports and fitness-based activities that promote camaraderie among the youths residing in Sembawang GRC and Sembawang West SMC.
